Where is mold found?

Mold likes wet, high humidity areas, constant temperature and dark areas. 

How do I avoid it?

Don't let water enter your house and be sure to have proper ventilation. Let fresh air circulate your home during nice days.

How many types of mold are there?

The estimates are 100,000 to 300,000 species worldwide. There are about 1000 in Canada.

Can inspectors tell you what kind of mold it is?

No, this can only be analyzed by a laboratory.

How can I recognize mold?

When a mold spore comes into contact with a moist nutrient source and humidity conditions are right, it will begin to propagate. This growth will appear as a circular spot.

How fast does mold grow?

If conditions are right, it can take 24-48 hours.

Where can mold be found in houses?

It can be found in: wall cavities, floors, ceilings, attics, basements or crawl spaces, showers, closets and cabinets.

Does mold smell like anything?

Musty smells are frequently associated with mold growth.
