Thinking About Moving? Here are 10 simple packing tips to help things run smoothly, efficiently and leave you feeling organized when the job is done.
- Gather packing supplies before you begin. It’s always frustrating when you’re on a role but have to run out for more tape.
- All boxes should weigh 50lbs or less. Makes for easy lifting and ensures that no box breaks at the bottom.
- Pack heavier items on the bottom of the box. You do not want lighter items to get crushed.
- Small items should be secured in a box or bag before put into bigger boxes.
- Keep an inventory and number your boxes so that you do not loose any merchandise in the move and know which items should be found in which box.
- Label your boxes “unload first” or “load last”. This makes it easier when you are unloading at the new house.
- Keep important valuables and records in your own car when moving. Do not send them with the rest of the goods.
- Try and keep content from the same room together. Makes it easier when unloading.
- Keep clothing in dresser drawers. Saves you a few boxes.
10. Keep tools for assembling furniture at the new house in there own box and in a moving spot you can access easily (Label “unload first”).
Really good points on moving mate. I should be looking to try them because i am moving to Sydney myself next month.
